Victorian personnel head north to support NSW flood response

23 May 2025

Twenty-four Victorian emergency services personnel have been deployed to New South Wales (NSW) to assist with major flooding and severe weather in the state’s north.

The team – including staff and volunteers from the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) and the Country Fire Authority (CFA) – left Melbourne last night. They will provide support in incident management, community engagement and jurisdictional coordination roles in the flood-affected region of Metford, within the city of Maitland.

Acting Emergency Management Commissioner Allyson Lardner praised the team’s efforts.

‘Victorians are ready to support our interstate colleagues no matter the time of year. After a busy season at home, our emergency services are once again dedicating their time to helping others. Our thoughts are with the local emergency services and communities in NSW as they continue to feel the impacts of this weather event’.

We thank our Victorian crews for their ongoing commitment and wish them a safe and successful deployment.
