Chief Executive

Sue Clifford, APM is the Acting Chief Executive and Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. The Chief Executive is responsible for the effective and efficient management and performance of Emergency Management Victoria (EMV).

Sue has extensive experience in the corporate, not-for-profit and Victorian public service sectors, including Victoria Police and Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). She has executive experience in policy, service design and delivery settings across a range of dynamic environments and is well-placed to continue EMV’s critical work.

Most recently Sue was the Executive Director of Justice Services North West Metropolitan Area, DJCS, as well as the Deputy Commander COVID-19 Public Housing Highrise Response under Operation Benessere in July 2020. She is also the current Deputy State Controller High Risk Industries Engagement and Enforcement Operation. Sue was the inaugural Chief Executive Officer for Family Safety Victoria from July 2017 to August 2019 – the first government agency of its kind dedicated to ending family violence and established to drive key family violence reforms.
