Kate Fitzgerald is the Acting Chief Executive and Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. The Chief Executive is responsible for the effective and efficient management and performance of Emergency Management Victoria.
Kate has an extensive public sector and emergency management career working at an executive level in state and federal government agencies.
Since arriving in Victoria in 2018, Kate has led reform projects in emergency management and policing including Resilient Recovery at Emergency Management Victoria and more recently the Victoria Police Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and establishment of the financial sustainability program.
Kate has been an active emergency services volunteer including with the ACT Rural Fire Service, NSW State Emergency Service and the Australian Red Cross and holds a Masters and Bachelor degree in emergency management.
