Victoria's Critical Infrastructure All Sectors Resilience Report 2020

Each day, Victorians rely upon the continuity of important services provided by critical infrastructure that are essential for our social and economic wellbeing.

Access to water, food and groceries, health services, energy, transport, communications, banking and finance, and government services would not be possible without the infrastructure that supports them. The uninterrupted provision of these services is important to our way of life.

This fifth All Sectors Resilience Report provides an overview of Victoria’s eight critical infrastructure sectors, detailing their key emergency risks, the resilience improvement initiatives industry and government have completed in the 12 months between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, and those proposed for the upcoming year. The report also includes the significant emergencies that have impacted Victorian critical infrastructure in the past 12 months and interdependencies between critical infrastructure sectors.

In 2020, Victorians were challenged by severe bushfires followed closely by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Critical infrastructure owners and operators continue to work together and with government to provide services and minimise impacts to the community. Our experiences over the last 12 months highlight the importance of resilient critical infrastructure, ongoing preparedness by owners and operators, and continued collaboration between industry and government.
