The Victorian Emergency Management Strategic Action Plan (SAP) Update 2016-19 outlines state-wide strategic priorities, with corresponding actions, to guide ‘all communities, all emergencies’ reform and supports Victoria in achieving its vision.
In developing the SAP Update, a lessons management process was undertaken across the sector to identify and incorporate the learnings from the implementation of the initial SAP. In addition, workshops were held to ascertain the challenges the sector is facing across each of the priority areas and to understand the key linkages between the SAP actions. This informed the development of the SAP Update 2016-19, which also sees the inclusion of two new actions, on Water Safety Education and Marine, Search and Rescue which highlights the breadth of the role we all play in the emergency management sector.
The Inspector General Emergency Management (IGEM) will continue to report and monitor progress on the delivery of the SAP actions on an annual basis.
