The Victorian community and our emergency management personnel have faced tough conditions over the last few days, weeks and months. From March 1 to March 5, we have experienced 380 fires, with the majority resulting from lightning strikes.
Victoria’s two night firebombing helicopters undertook a training exercise at Mansfield overnight on Monday which saw them hover fill from a small tank and ground fill in three consecutive flights per activity.
EMV’s Marine Search and Rescue (MSAR) team has hit the ground running in 2019, providing crucial training for its volunteers, supervising the building of five new emergency vessels, and creating a new alert, dispatch, and communications system in conjunction with Victoria Police.
Mild conditions across Victoria this week is assisting firefighters to gain the upper hand on three main fires at Thomson Jordan Divide Road, Timbarra and Walhalla however the fires are expected to burn for some time.
