Volunteers recognised at Big Bash League match

3 January 2018

Emergency management agencies and volunteers were the real winners at last night’s Big Bash League game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, when the sector partnered with the Melbourne Stars and Cricket Victoria for their Volunteer Recognition Match.

A crowd of approximately 40,000 people watched on as volunteers formed a guard of honour as the teams ran out onto the field.

The Emergency Management Commissioner, Craig Lapsley, was also interviewed by the ground announcer about the vital role of volunteers in our sector. They work tirelessly around the State to make a big difference to our communities, and we value and thank them for their passion, dedication and expertise.
