EMV has welcomed the arrival of new Acting Chief Executive and Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management, Kate Fitzgerald, who started with the organisation in late February.
Kate is acting in the role while recruitment is underway to fill the position on an ongoing basis.
Her emergency management career includes extensive executive level experience across state and federal government agencies.
Since arriving in Victoria in 2018, Kate has led reform projects in emergency management and policing, including Resilient Recovery at EMV. Most recently she worked on the Victoria Police Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and establishing the financial sustainability program.
An active emergency services volunteer with the ACT Rural Fire Service, NSW SES and the Australian Red Cross, Kate also holds a Masters and Bachelor degree in emergency management.
She takes over from Andrew Minack, who served as Chief Executive and Deputy Secretary at EMV from December 2018.
Andrew came to EMV from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, where he was Executive Director, Governance.
He was previously responsible for leading work on the Government’s fire services reform package and new legislation governing the funding of political parties and donations.
Andrew had prior executive level experience with state and local government agencies, including Victoria Police, where he was responsible for corporate strategy, stakeholder engagement and performance improvement.
EMV thanks Andrew for his service and wishes him well as he takes on a new executive role within the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
