The emergency management sector will come together virtually at the upcoming Emergency Management Conference (EMC) 2020. The conference, which is in its 20th year, will explore recent events in Australia and overseas, and will give delegates the opportunity to learn and reflect on the experiences of their colleagues and peers in bushfires, heatwaves, severe storms and cyclones, smoke events, volcanic eruptions and the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Emergencies over the last twelve months have shown that learning lessons, planning and communicating effectively during emergencies, is critical to the preservation of life, property and communities.
EMV’s Emergency Management Commissioner, Andrew Crisp, is a guest speaker at the conference and is presenting about volunteering opportunities and challenges. Deputy Commissioner, Deb Abbott, is presenting about Victoria's new State Emergency Management Plan. See the full list of speakers in the EMC 2020 program .
The conference will be held over two weeks (29-30 September and 6-7 October). For more information and to register for a single day, or all four days, visit the EMC website .
