The number of drownings in Victoria increased during 2020-21 and there were significantly more than in previous years.

In response to the rising number of drownings, the Victorian government is working with key areas of the community, government and industry to develop a Victorian Water Safety Strategy 2021-25. This strategy will guide actions and investment to better prevent and respond to water-related incidents.

Your input could help make Victorians safer in and around the water.

You can now have your say on the draft Victorian Water Safety Strategy 2021-25. It is open for public consultation until 6 October.
