About the Victorian Ports Corporation (Melbourne)

The Victorian Ports Corporation (Melbourne) (VPC(M)) is responsible for the safe management of commercial shipping within the waters of the Port of Melbourne, including the channels between Melbourne and the sea.

Note: As of 1 July 2021, Ports Victoria was established under a Transport Restructuring Order (see the Victoria Government Gazette No. S 296 of 2021 dated Thursday 17 June 2021). As part of the Transport Restructuring Order, all responsibilities and functions of VPC(M) and VRCA, including those in the State Emergency Management Plan (SEMP), transferred to Ports Victoria.  

As part of referential and transitional provisions within the Transport Restructuring Order, all references VPC(M) and VRCA in the SEMP and related materials, however described, are taken as references to Ports Victoria.
