Victoria’s emergency management organisations will come together today to celebrate the vital role of women across the state.

The Victorian community and our emergency management personnel have faced tough conditions over the last few days, weeks and months.  From March 1 to March 5, we have experienced 380 fires, with the majority resulting from lightning strikes.

Victoria’s two night firebombing helicopters undertook a training exercise at Mansfield overnight on Monday which saw them hover fill from a small tank and ground fill in three consecutive flights per activity.

Strathewen Primary School students are learning and teaching others about all aspects of fire including fire behaviour and the history of fire in their area.

Approximately 120 Victorian recovery personnel will be travelling to Queensland over the next few weeks to support Queensland communities in their recovery efforts following devastating floods.

Today (Sunday 3 February) is a day of elevated fire danger, with a hot, dry, windy conditions and temperatures forecast to be in the 40s in some parts of the state.

Victorians are in for a very hot week, with hot days, warm night time temperatures and elevated fire danger in most parts of the state. 

Victoria’s ability to reload Large Air Tankers has been bolstered by establishing the capability for the first time at the RAAF Base in East Sale.
