Ready2Go is a community-led disaster resilience program, supporting people who are unable to safeguard themselves against the effects of extreme weather, including heat and other emergencies. This includes carefully matching vulnerable people with registered and trained volunteer community members who can provide information, support, visitation checks and early relocation prior to extreme weather events.

Working together through Ready2Go provides opportunities for community members to assist and support each other to live, relocate and return to their local area when safe to do so.  Relationships developed through these processes can also assist people to connect with other support services and contribute to improving broader health and resilience outcomes.

Echo Youth and Family Services has secured funding to develop a state wide Ready2Go Disaster Resilience Pilot Program. This will build upon the experience and learnings gained from an initial local project in the Eastern Hills of the Dandenong Ranges, to include a further ten communities throughout Victoria.

This state-wide pilot program is jointly funded by Gandel Philanthropy and Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation through the Eldon and Anne Foote Trust, together with in-kind support provided by Emergency Management Victoria.
