The Emergency Management Sector Workforce Strategy project will provide sector-wide guidance and alignment in the building of a sustainable, diverse and inclusive workforce to meet foreseeable challenges. The strategy does not seek to replace organisations’ internal strategy development and workforce planning practices; it will provide a common planning narrative to align similar efforts across agencies.
Operational communications provides the underpinning capability to allow agencies to operate and interoperate. Network investments are typically large, and the lead times to build new infrastructure are long. These investments are a prerequisite to many smaller technology efficiency projects, so must be undertaken first.
Resilience recognises that while it is impossible to prevent the occurrence of natural disasters, it is possible to mitigate risks and consequences through effective planning. ‘Resilience’, refers to our ability to ‘bounce back’ after disasters, and with improved ability, withstand future impacts.
