Community resilience research project

EMV has recently been successful securing a Bushfire and Natural Hazard Cooperative Research Centre (BNH CRC) Tactical Research Grant. The grants program is designed for researchers to pursue strategic national issues across the emergency services sector.

The research grant was successfully secured by Dr Holly Foster & Dr Melissa Parsons (from the University of New England) for a 12 month project exploring a Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting framework for community resilience outcomes.

While Emergency Management Victoria have undertaken significant work to better understand and assist resilient communities, this project will support EMV’s work to date by designing a method to assess community resilience outcomes of emergency management policies and programs. Outcomes will allow departments and agencies to better understand, test and improve initiatives that support community resilience building processes.

The project has already received national interest, with many inter-state agencies and departments signing on to participate in a Project working group.
